Case Study:
| |
Client: A research laboratory transforming the art of winemaking.
Problem: Complicated and proprietary statistical analyses need to be presented cleanly, simply and rapidly to customers.
Solution: Export only the results to a special file designed for display and retrieval; access via the internet.
Enologix, of Sonoma, CA, started life as a chemistry lab for local winemakers. They analyze grapes, wines, and macerated juices for variables that affect the flavor, aroma, body and ultimately the quality and price of finished wines. They have stored, in a FileMaker Pro data warehouse, years of chemical data from wines the world has known and loved, which they call the "Global Vintage 500." Their proprietary ratings and scores are published in their print publication, the "Global Vintage Quarterly," and on their website, www.globalvintage.com.
If you are a winemaker, they can look at the chemistry of your Pinot Noir, for example, compare it to the chemistry of widely recognized competing Pinot Noirs, tell you what kind of a rating you are likely to get from national wine critics, and compute what your wine should sell for! Since 1998, we have helped them refine and present their algorithms and analyses to their growing customer base using FileMaker Pro.
